Do Hard Drives Hibernate Automatically?
FygoOS supports automatic drive hibernation when drives are idle. This includes internal drives, except the system drive, and external drives that support hibernation. This feature is enabled by default. To modify the settings:
Log in with an administrator account and go to System Settings > Hard Drive > Drive Hibernation on the web interface to set the hibernation timeout for internal and external hard drives.

When drive hibernation is enabled, you can choose the wake-up strategy:
- On-demand: only when reading/writing data to volumes. With this option, the system only wakes up hard drives during read/write operations. Drives that are not being accessed remain in hibernation.
- Faster response: wake up when users log in. With this option, in addition to data read/write operations, the system also wakes up all hard drives when a user logs in from the web interface or app. This improves response speed for read/write operations and provides a smoother experience.
Note:
- Common operations that trigger hard drive read/write include:
- Opening File Manager;
- Active file tasks, such as upload, download, move, or copy tasks, on a volume that uses the hard drive;
- Apps or Docker containers installed on a volume that uses the hard drive and actively transferring data;
- Apps or Docker containers accessing files on the volume, including media scraping or playback, photo browsing, and AI recognition;
- Download-related apps or Docker containers with active download or seeding tasks.
- In addition to file read/write, accessing the System Settings > Storage and Hard Drive pages also wakes up all hard drives used in volumes because storage-related information needs to be queried. If you do not want to wake up the drives, check hard drive status and information in Resource Monitor instead.
