  • What is the difference between administrator and standard user permissions?

In FygoOS, users are divided into two roles: Administrator and Standard User. This article explains the permission differences between them, so you can choose the appropriate role when creating accounts for others.

    Administrator vs. Standard User

    Permission ItemAdministratorStandard User
    Volume
    • Can use all volumes. Newly created volumes are automatically granted access.
    • Quota is unlimited by default and can be configured per account.
    • Can only use specified volumes. Newly created volumes must be granted access before they can be used.
    • Quota is unlimited by default and can be configured per account.
    NAS local files
    • Can go to Files > Admin View to view all files under volumes, including files owned by other administrators and standard users, with edit and delete permissions.
    • In Files, can only view their own files and files shared by other users.
    External Storage
    • Can go to Files > External Storage to view data on external USB drives or portable hard drives, and can eject devices.
    • Can go to Files > Settings > External Storage Permissions to configure whether standard users can view and eject devices.
    • Can view and eject external storage from Files > External Storage only when External Storage Permissions is set to "Everyone".
Remote Mount for other devices and cloud storage
    • Can go to Files > Remote Mount to mount folders on remote devices or cloud storage. Each user can only see the folders they mounted and cannot see files mounted by other users.
    • Can go to Files > Remote Mount to mount folders on remote devices or cloud storage. Each user can only see the folders they mounted and cannot see files mounted by other users.
    File Services
    • Can enable SMB, WebDAV, FTP, and NFS in System Settings > File Services. Once enabled, the services take effect for all users on the device.
    • After a service is enabled, the visible file scope for File Services connections can be configured per account.
    • After a service is enabled, the visible file scope for File Services connections can be configured per account.
    SSH
    • Can enable the service in System Settings > SSH.
    • After SSH is enabled, the Super Administrator (the first administrator) has permission by default. Other administrators who need SSH access can go to System Settings > User Management > User Details > More > Enable SSH. Standard users do not have this entry.

    App Center
    • Only administrators can install or uninstall apps from App Center.
    • After an app is installed, all administrators can use it. Administrators can go to System Settings > Apps to configure whether a specific app can be accessed from the desktop by standard users.
    • Only when an app is set to "All users on the device can access it from the desktop" will the app icon appear on a standard user's desktop.
    • Note: Most apps can be accessed directly through the NAS address plus port number. This access method is not restricted by the permission settings above.

    Super Administrator

The Super Administrator is the first administrator account created during system initialization, with UID 1000. Compared with other administrators, it only differs in the following ways:

    • It cannot be deleted after creation and can only be disabled.
    • SSH access is enabled by default and can be turned off in System Settings > User Management > User Details > More.
