Encrypted Backup Overview
Encrypted backup allows you to apply lightweight encryption to files when backing up data from Fygo to Dropbox & OneDrive. Decryption does not require any additional client — it is done within Fygo.
1. Enable Encryption When Backing Up from Fygo
- Go to Backup Fygo and select the destination cloud drive

- On the fourth step (backup rules page), enable Data Encryption and set a password. Confirm to create the task and the encrypted backup will begin.

The password can be up to 32 characters, is case-sensitive, and supports 7 special characters: ! @ # % & * ~
Note:
- Local files will remain unencrypted after the backup
- Encrypted file names will be obfuscated, and the file extension will be changed to .fot
- Once an encrypted task is created, the Data Encryption setting cannot be disabled. Please keep your password safe
- Due to Baidu Netdisk not supporting streaming encrypted uploads, temporary encrypted files will be generated locally and automatically deleted after upload
2. Enable Decryption When Restoring from Cloud Drive
- Go to Backup Remote Storage and select the **cloud drive **

- On the fourth step (backup rules page), enable Data Decryption and enter password. Confirm to create the task and decryption will begin.

Note:
- Please make sure to enter the correct password for decryption, otherwise decryption will fail.
3. FAQ
Q1: Will file names change after encryption?
A: Yes. Because some cloud drives perform risk control based on file names, file names will be obfuscated after encryption to ensure file security, and the extension will be uniformly changed to .fot.
Q2: Under what circumstances will decryption fail?
A: Common reasons for decryption failure include:
- Incorrect password (pay attention to case sensitivity and special characters);
- After configuring a decryption task, do not frequently modify or reorganize the encrypted folders on the cloud drive, as this may cause file information retrieval to fail.
Q3: What if I forget my password?
A: To protect your data security, the password set for encrypted backup is stored locally in encrypted form and is not uploaded to Fygo servers. Therefore, it cannot be recovered. Please keep your password safe.
